Otakon 2009

Mon Jul 20, 2009, 10:42 AM
Well I got to go to Otakon this year thankfully, didn't get to go last year so I was really excited.

We got to Baltimore around 4pm after dealing with awful traffic on the 495 loop; took us almost an extra hour because of just general slow-downs.

Instead of going right to the center we decided to relax in the hotel for a bit then went to the pre-reg line to get our badges around 7pm. The line was still ungodly long and we wasted extra time by walking around the entire building when the line was by the front door.

After about 90-minutes got inside, little disappointed with the selection this year but I ended up with Lucky Star.

I really didn't get to do much with my time since I had to help my friends with their costume; one year I really want to dress up really nice looking.

Anyway the panels were so-so this year and the moving stuff into the Hilton hotel threw me off a bit but it was kinda nice having a "quiet" side in the convention craziness.

People at Otakon are just as rude and inconsiderate as ever. People still stopping dead in the middle of walkways to take pictures instead of moving to the side, people pushing through you or not paying attention. And then of course there's the dealers room where you have to push 5 people out of the way just to look at a booth since they're standing there doing nothing. Oh well I've gotten use to that.

I did some furrys there so I got really excited. I'm too shy to talk to people but I'm glad some of us showed up. I hope Otakon treated most of them decently. I got a few heckles for wearing a Sonic T-shirt but I shrugged it off. Wish I could have met up with some people but I know so few I didn't get the chance.

Overall this year was decent, not my favorite year but I got to go at least and had a good time. I'm hoping that I can find time to go to AWA in Georgia and/or Animazement which I should be since it's here in NC.
